Plans for new housing estate in Hayle backed by town council
Posted: May 27, 2015
|Plans for a new estate in Hayle with up to 40 per cent affordable housing provision have been submitted to Cornwall Council.
The scheme, put forward by Aurora Land and Design Limited, consists of 148 properties including flats and houses in land at Trevassack Hill.
The affordable housing provision equates to 59 properties which would be a mix of social rented and part-ownership.
Apartment blocks made up of two, three and four bedroom flats would create 89 units which would be sold at open market prices.
Hayle Town councillors voted to support the plans at a meeting last week and applauded the developer for the level of affordable housing provision at the site.
The application states two new access points would be created with primary access being formed with a priority junction on Humphry Davy Lane and following a request from the town council, a secondary access off Trevassack Hill is part of the proposals in order to provide a direct link from the north side of Hayle town centre to Bodriggy Academy.
Developers have included a children's play area in the scheme.
Bovis Homes, agent for the developer, said in a design statement: "The final proposals will deliver a high quality, accessible addition to the surrounding properties which respects its physical context and completes the already established neighbourhood."
Hayle Town Council said it was important the development included traffic calming measures and requested that offsite contributions for open spaces should be spent in Hayle.
A section 106 agreement would include £2,736 education contribution per open market dwelling as well as contribution to highway maintenance.
