New £50 season ticket for overnight parking in selected Council car parks

During consultation with residents about parking last year, one of the issues raised was the problem of finding somewhere to park overnight. So the Council will now introduce a reduced price evening only season ticket.

For £50, you can buy an evening only season ticket which is valid for the whole year or, if the issue only affects you at certain times of the year, or you prefer to spread the cost, you can buy a season ticket valid for 6 months for £25 or for 3 months for £12.50.

Cllr Geoff Brown, CC Portfolio Holder for Transport

Cornwall Council cabinet member for Transport Geoff Brown said: “We have listened to residents in areas where they have told us that they have a real problem in finding somewhere to park in the evening and overnight. We have slashed the cost of the evening season ticket in selected car parks in several towns from £150 down to £50 for the year. That means that evening season ticket holders can park in selected car parks in their town when the evening charge begins, right through to the following morning, for less than £1 per week.”

The times when evening charges apply vary from car park to car park – so make sure you check what time your evening only season ticket is valid.

The evening only season tickets can be used in the car parks for the town that you choose. So for example, if you live in Penzance and buy an evening only season ticket, you can park in Causewayhead, Clarence Street, Greenmarket, Penalverne, Harbour, St Anthony, St. Erbyns or Wherrytown car parks when the evening charge in those car parks begin, right through to when day time charging begins the following morning.

The council say the new season ticket will only be valid for the registered vehicle and it is not possible to guarantee that a parking space will be available.
