Council Vacancy

Unfortunately, Councillor Bernie Marks has resigned from the town council. We wish her well and thank her for her positive contribution over the last 5 years. Consequently we now have another councillor vacancy for the Hayle North Ward. More information is on the council’s website. If you would like to get involved and take an active role in shaping the future of Hayle please contact the clerk, details below, to have an informal chat to find out what is involved.

2020/2021 Precept Demand and Staff and Organisational Review Hayle Town Council’s Precept will increase this year by 17.04%, which equates to a £29.51 increase per Band D property compared to last year. The final Precept for 2020/2021 is £600,367.

The increase in precept in 2020- 21 relates to a number of issues as follows:-
Administration costs – increase in payroll and staff training, accountancy & audit and H&S consultancy budget heads
Allotments & Cemetery costs – the budget has increased for the creation of a town cemetery
Maintenance of Amenity Sites – increase in payroll – additional £20,000 for SLA Civil Enforcement Officer and extra money for a full time post of assistant maintenance technician
Swimming Pool Staff & Operational costs – to further enhance and continue to provide a safe and healthy amenity for all users and to include national living wage increase by 6%
Community Centre Staff & Operational costs – general running costs increased
Library Staff & Operational costs – general running costs

Corona Virus and Forthcoming
Meeting and Event Dates

Due to the impact of the Corona Virus, at the time of going to press, we are unable to confirm the arrangements for either the Annual Electors Meeting, scheduled for 16 April 2020, or the Mayor Making and Annual Council Meeting scheduled for 7 May 2020.

Equally we do not know what will happen with regard to the regular, scheduled council meetings. It will be a case of keeping an eye on the council’s website and Facebook pages for details of all meetings and events. We will strive to keep you in the loop as far as practicable.

Hayle Swimming Pool Opening Dates

The pool is currently scheduled to open on Saturday 23 May 2020 for the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend and the half-term holiday week and then weekends until it opens daily from 27 June 2020. Opening hours are from 11am to 6pm, weather permitting, until Sunday 6 September 2020.

Annual Citizens and Organizations of the Year

Nomination packs are now available from the town council office for the Citizens and Organization of the Year Awards. The council is also seeking nominations for Hayle Young Person of the Year and Hayle Youth Organization of the Year. The deadline for all nominations is Wednesday 15 April 2020.
