BUGSY MALONE:

Some tickets are still available from the school at a cost of £5 per adult and £3.50 for children aged 1 - 16 years. Please call Mrs Hickson at the school on 01736 753009 for any further information or to reserve tickets which will have to be paid for in advance. Some tickets may be available on the door but cannot be guaranteed.
HAYLE FLOWER CLUB:
Hayle Flower Club's next meeting will be on March 23 at 7.30pm at the Hayle Day Centre, this is the Annual General Meeting, followed by a demonstration by Rose Joynes and Ruby Trethewey called Spring celebrations. There will be no competition this month. Visitors most welcome at £3, come along for an enjoyable evening and make new friends.
HAYLE FILM CLUB:
Brooklyn. On Thursday March 24 at 7.30pm.
This fairy tale of New York is the showcase for an outstanding performance from Saoirse Ronan as a young woman who leaves rural Ireland for 1950s New York, in a refreshingly old-fashioned movie. She finds romance with a brash Italian-American (Emory Cohen), but on a visit home rediscovers all she has missed about her old life, including possible marriage to the local eligible bachelor (Domhnall Gleeson). The portrayal of her choice between not just two men, but two lives in different worlds, scripted by Nick Hornby, has been acclaimed as one of the best films of 2015, winner of over 20 awards and nominated for many more. As ever, at the Passmore Edwards Institute, house lights down at 7.30pm. Tickets at £5/£4 for members, reserve on 01736 752319, or book online at www.haylefilmclub.org.uk
MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION:
Hayle Model Railway Club and Duchy Railroaders are holding a one-day exhibition and workshop on Easter Saturday, March 26. It will run from 10am to 3:30pm in Phillack Hall on Copper Terrace, Hayle (next to Julian Foye's). There will be some Club members' layouts, parts of layouts and models of trains and buildings in various scales. Members will be demonstrating different aspects of railway modelling and operation. They will show the range of skills involved in the hobby and will be happy to explain to visitors what they are doing, to discuss and exchange ideas. Admission is free and refreshments will be available. If you want more information, please phone 01736 754843 or 757679.
SMUGGLERS INN:
On Sunday March 20 there's live jazz from 1pm to 3.30pm. Jazz is now here on the first and third Sunday lunchtime of each month. The second and fourth Sunday of each month will be alternative live music between 1pm and 3.30pm. Why not finish the weekend off with the quiz and bingo from 8pm.
On Monday March 21 there's an acoustic evening from 7pm to 10.30pm. Everyone welcome to come and enjoy a drink with a good evening of easy listening music.
Easter Weekend. On Friday March 25 - traditional fish day - there will be a Selection of fish dishes available running alongside the usual menu. Saturday is steak night. Sunday three course lunch and evening special at £14.95 per person. Booking advisable 01736 850280.
Easter Sunday there's "hand picked" live acoustic music with Mic McCreadie and Adrian O'Reilly. Free entry.
HAYLE IN BLOOM:
Seen Daffodil Alley yet? Do have a stroll along the King George Walk and see the daffodils lining the path. They are a picture, and a walk is a pleasant way to spend an hour or so. The guided walk on the King George Walk was held for the first time last Thursday, and those in attendance heard the history of the Copperhouse, an interesting story thanks to Georgina, of Hayle in Bloom and the Hayle Archive. We hope that the monthly programme will grow in popularity over the summer months. Please come, and tell your friends. Next month's event will be held on Thursday April 8, and is for the children, who will be on Easter School holidays. There will be a Nature Trail, with surprises along the way. Children of all ages welcome, but need to bring an adult with them. Meet at 10.30am at the Greenhouse. £2.50 per child. Dogs OK, but must keep their humans on a lead. The Quiz held at the Old Quay House was a cheerful occasion and raised funds for Hayle in Bloom.
Hayle in Bloom are looking forward to the Foundry Square olive trees being replanted in brand new tubs, thanks to local business man Dave Dobson. Support like this from locals is much appreciated - individuals, businesses and Councils. Thanks to all. It is sad that there are some in the community of our lovely town who are hell bent on spoiling it. Litter, including plenty of dog poop, and broken flowers and plants in the tubs and gardens are far too frequent. Hayle in Bloom urges everyone to Keep Britain Tidy, especially as the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday on April 21, and the whole country has been asked to clean up in her honour.
