Hospice appeal hits the £300,000 mark

Thursday, November 03, 2011

ST JULIA'S Hospice's fundraising appeal has hit an important milestone.

The Hayle-based charity has raised nearly £300,000 thanks to the many local fundraising events and donations.

Recently, Goldsithney Golden Age Club presented a £285 cheque to the appeal.

The money was raised from a cream tea and members' donations in memory of former members Cath Robinson, Sylvia Luxton, Ann George and Carol Murphy.

Hayle fundraiser Myrtle Jacka and her friends have also been busy adding to the pot.

They dressed up as Victorians for a Victorian Tea afternoon, raising more than £800.

Her events have raised more than £3,040 for the appeal since last year.

Angarrack Inn's harvest festival auction last month raised £980.
