Hayle in Bloom Judging Day 2019

Jul 4 , 2019 - Thu - 9:00 am

A reminder that first judging takes place on 4th July and yet again, last year, the judges commented on the community spirit they experienced whilst visiting our town. We would, therefore, again like to encourage all Hayle residents to ‘beautify’ their gardens, and pubs to get their ‘flower’ dressings on.

We would also encourage you to enter the Hayle Cup competitions (Best Residential Garden and Best Dressed Pub) to be judged in week beginning 29th July.

Entry forms are available from the 1st June at the following outlets :
Post Offices in Copperhouse and Foundry; Central Garage; Texaco Garage; Passmore Edwards Institute; Day Care Centre.

Hayle Celebration Day 2019

Jul 21 , 2019 - Sun - 11:00 am

Hayle Celebration Day this year will take place on Sunday 21st July from 11m to 4 pm in the Recreation Ground. There should be something of interest for everyone, with plenty of stalls with many fantastic local craft items for sale as well as your chance to test your luck on our raffle, tombolas, and games of skill.

You can talk to the vintage, veteran and classic car exhibitors and find out more about their lovely vehicles.
Come along and listen to music provided by local entertainers and choirs throughout the day. There will be plenty of tasty bites available –BBQ, teas, cakes, ice cream, etc. You can then wash it all down with a drink from the beer wagon whilst the kids can go along to have fun on the bouncy castle, the free fun stall, get their face painted, etc.

Even the family dog can get involved at the K9 fun dog show –there are classes for every type of dog. Even if you haven’t a dog of your own, it should be fun to watch.

Money raised this year will be going toward many local charities who are putting on stalls at the event as well as the Rotary Club of Hayle and Hayle Christmas lights who are organising the event.

Hayle Rotary Club exists to serve the community at home and overseas. Over the year money raised has helped to undertake worthwhile projects that benefit others particularly in the local community. In recent months £1000 has been awarded to St Julia’s Hospice, £1000 to the defibrillator in Angarrack, and smaller amounts to other local organisations.

Hayle Christmas Lights has been providing lights around the town for about 25years. Fundraising is done throughout the year with events and donations from individuals and businesses in the locality. We hope to improve the lights again this year with the help of funds raised at this and other events.
We would like to thank all the local businesses, Hayle Town Council and its councillors and our local Cornwall County Councillors who are supporting us this year. Thanks also to all our entertainers, exhibitors, stalls and helpers who will help to make the day a success.

The town of Hayle has a lot to offer to both locals and visitors who can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome at this and many other events going on in our town throughout the year.

If you would like to do more to help your local community, new members are more than welcome at

Friends of the Towans – Butterfly Management

Jun 13 , 2019 - Thu - 10:00 am
That’s code for ‘raking bramble cuttings from some of the slopes’. It’ll be hot work if it’s sunny, so we’ll go gently and hopefully treat ourselves to some lovely views of silver-studded blues in their peak flying season. Meet in National Trust (NT) car park at Godrevy (the one with the main cafe) at 10.00am on Thursday 13 June 2019. Fee payable for non-NT members.

Ranger Martin Rule will bring tools, gloves, tea, coffee and biscuits, but please make sure you bring some lunch and appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for working in the exposed Towans’ environment.

(All Friends of the Towans events start at 10.00am and run until about 2.00pm.)

If you are planning to attend, please contact Martin by text or phone to 07854 123877, or email martinrule@talktalk.net to let him know.
