Police are carrying out stop checks across Cornwall's roads to make sure people are only making essential journeys amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Officers have been given new powers to help enforce the government's new guidelines on social distancing.
The UK is now essentially on a lockdown, where people are only allowed to leave their homes for select reasons.
These include for food shopping, to exercise once a day, to help someone who is vulnerable or for medical reasons.
People who can't do their jobs from home are also allowed to travel to work, if it is essential.
Police in Newquay are urging people to avoid busy areas, including beaches.
They are also warning that children should not be meeting friends or playing outside together during the school closures.
"It is apparent that some people are not adhering to the government and NHS advice on social distancing.
"Please AVOID busy areas, towns, parks, beaches, takeaways, retail stores, supermarkets, wooded areas and other public spaces. Please stay at home unless absolutely necessary and essential
"The children who are not at school should NOT be meeting friends and playing outside together, the closure of schools is to stop the spread of the virus and protect them and there families, this is NOT a holiday!
"Respect and observe distance and spacing and please be responsible. DO NOT stockpile food.
"EVERYONE is at risk and no one, even those currently in good health is immune.
"Stop the spread , protect the NHS and the other emergency services and stay at home
"Newquay Police are carrying out Stop checks on all the main routes into and out of Newquay .
"If your journey is NOT Essential then DO NOT TRAVEL."
