At its Strategic Planning Committee on 24 September 2015, Cornwall Council refused planning application PA15/02777 for a proposed residential development of 222 dwellings, associated public space and provision of land to facilitate the expansion of Penpol Primary School on land SSE of Penpol School, St George's Road, Hayle.

Kenny Edwards, 21, originally from Cumbria, now living in Angarrack, near Falmouth in Cornwall, will be working behind the bar of the Angarrack Inn on Christmas Day. As his family all live in Barbados, Kenny – who is planning to do a Masters degree in the UK – will be going solo this Crimbo.  read more »

Gwinear

Gwinear village sits on a hill with expansive views from the northern end of the village down the Angarrack valley. Gwinear is about two miles (3 km) east of Hayle[2] and overlooks the Angarrack valley.

Isis Gardens and Hayle's Lifeboat Isis

Hayle's first lifeboat - Isis

Hayle had its own lifeboat from 1866 until 1906.

Its first boat was the ‘Isis’.  A self-righter, thirty-two feet in length, pulling ten oars, paid for by Oxford University.
She carried out ten rescues saving fifty lives during her twenty-one years of service.

In 1887 ‘The New Oriental Bank’ later renamed ‘The F. H. Harrison’ replaced ‘Isis’. She was a thirty-two feet self-righter and her saddest service was to the ‘S.S. Escurial’, when she had to be taken overland to Portreath beach to be launched.
In spite of her best efforts only seven of the eighteen crew were rescued alive.  read more »

Angarrack's fortnightly hobby afternoon takes place today between 2pm and 4.30pm at the Angarrack Community Centre.

Come along and bring something that you enjoy doing - for example, knitting or sowing - or just come along for a chat and a cup of tea!

Admission is £2. All welcome.

The Christmas Coffee held on 19 December in aid of Parkinsons raised £186.50 .Many thanks to those who gave raffle prizes and all those who came and supported.
