Boeing B-17F 42-3062 US Air Transport Command crashed at Hayle Towans

05/04/1943 1020hrs Boeing B-17F 42-3062 of the U.S. Air Transport Command on a ferry flight from America to St. Eval crashed at Hayle Towans, 1¾ miles N of Hayle Police Station. The aircraft was badly damaged by fire but the five crewmen are safe. (Captain Nathan S. Kohn).

03/08/1942 1520hrs Armstrong Whitworth Whitley Mark VII Z9190 YG-B of 502 Sqdn at St. Eval crashed on Hayle Beach, 1 mile N.W of Hayle Police Station. The aircraft was extensively damaged and of the crew of six, two are seriously injured; one slightly injured and the remaining three are safe.
