THE FUTURE management of Hayle Harbour is currently being debated as a consultation to discuss the transfer of the harbour and land is set to get underway.

ING recently announced that South Quay and Foundry Yardhad been to sold to Peveril Securities, but insisted that this will not affect the consultatiopn regarding future ownership of the harbour and surrounding lands.

  1. Hayle Harbour, should it go to a community trust or to the council to establish a municipal port?

Hayle Harbour, should it go to a community trust or to the council to establish a municipal port?

ING are still holding the consultation, which could see ownership granted to a private enterprise, community group or transferred to the council to run a municipal port.

The group which takes on the running of the harbour will be responsible for its structure and operation.

The Cornishman has asked a representative from Hayle Harbout Trust and Hayle Harbour Support Group, the former wants to see a community-run port and the latter a municipal port, to discuss what the transfer of assets to the different owners would mean.
