    There has been a serious collision on the A30 in Cornwall, shutting both directions of the road.

    An eyewitness told Cornwall Live that there has been a "big accident on A30 at the Roseworthy Dip" and the Cornwall Air Ambulance has been at the scene.

    Traffic and travel system, Inrix, reports that two cars are involved from the B3301 Carwin Rise at Loggans Moor roundabout to the A3047 at Camborne West.

    It reports that the crash has happened on the eastbound side, but police have closed both sides to assist with the incident.

    The eyewitness said: "Big accident on A30 on roseworthy dip. Road is closed both sides. Fire engine, ambulance and helicopter. Traffic at Camborne premier inn roundabout is heavy.

    Inrix reports: "A30 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident, two cars involved from B3301 Carwin Rise (Loggans Moor roundabout, Loggans) to A3047 (Camborne West, Camborne).

    "Accident happened on the eastbound side but police have closed both sides to assist.

    "Air Ambulance has been in attendance. Affecting traffic travelling between Hayle and Camborne. Diversion - via the old A30 through Roseworthy and Connor Downs which is already very busy."

    Devon and Cornwall Police has been approached for more information.

    A30 reopens

    Great news for motorists - the A30 is now back open in both directions.

    The road has now been cleared following the crash.

    A30 traffic is heavy

    Both directions of A30 remain closed

    The westbound carriageway of the A30 was closed to allow the air ambulance to land. It remains closed along with the A30 eastbound.

    Man airlifted to Derriford Hospital with a head injury

    A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson confirmed that a 999 call was made at around 10.59am this morning, to reports of a collision between two vehicles.

    One man was trapped in a vehicle, whilst a male in the other vehicle has been described as “walking wounded”.

    Initially, injuries were not thought to be serious, life-threatening or life-changing, but the Force Incident Manager said that one male has suffered a head injury that “may be more serious than first thought”.

    He has been airlifted to Derriford Hospital.

    Diversion - via the old A30 through Roseworthy and Connor Downs which is reported to be very busy.
