DEVELOPERS are looking to resurrect retail park plans in Hayle which will provide more than 500 jobs and see a £3.5 million development into Loggans Moor roundabout.

Walker developments, who are behind the retail park plans for Hayle Ruby Club, are anticipating their application making an appearance at the Strategic Planning Committee meeting next month.

In December 2014 Walker developments and Cranford Developments Ltd, the rival company who also want to build a retail park on Marsh land near Marsh Lane, were both sent away from the Planning meeting with amendments to make to their applications.

Since then, the rugby club application, which received more than 450 letters in support, has completed the recommendations and is set to resurrect their planning application.

The company have made section 106 agreements, which includes investing £3.5 million into Loggans Moor roundabout, which currently creates mass congestion.

Walker development's proposal would see a new site for the rugby club as well as a sports and community facility, which would act as a gym, restaurant and venue.

Richard Walker, owner of Walker developments, said: "We are anticipating our planning application to go to the next strategic planning meeting.

"If you look at the two applications the rugby club development delivers more to the local community and there are no negative aspects which are seen with Cranford."

Rob Jewell, Chairman of Hayle Chamber of Commerce, said: "We think it is vital that the Walker proposal is not given the go ahead at the expense of the Cranfords development proposal, which has contracted occupancy and credible deliverability, including jobs, road improvements, and other benefits for the town.

"We have not had credible information from Walker Developments at any stage, and have seen no change or improvements since the last time the application was considered and sent away to be improved."

Town Mayor Graham Coad said: "The rugby club application has already won the support of Hayle Town Council, but Cornwall Council has delayed it so that it can be heard on the same day as the rival application.

"Cranford's previous development proposals for that site have all been refused by Cornwall Council, but this is a new application has yet to go to Hayle Town Council. The Cranfords development has received over 80 objections so far, which is a number usually triggering a Public Meeting, but as I speak, Cornwall Council is trying to avoid holding one."

A spokesperson from Cranford Developments said: "We are looking forward to our detailed planning application for Hayle Shopping Park being heard at Strategic Planning Committee shortly.

"We very much hope that it will meet with a positive decision, which we believe would be great for the town and people of Hayle and would provide quality retailers currently not represented in West Cornwall."
