2014 Coastal Community Fund
May 22, 2014 at 4:14pmIn April the Trust submitted an application for the 2014 round of the Coastal Community Fund. Our application is for £1.6 million and is for the refurbishment of the 1960's building currently housing the crustacean operation of Mr. Hawkins on East Quay.
We have an amazing team for this application comprising:
- Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, winners not only of the prestigious Stirling Prize but, in 2013, the Prime Minister’s Better Building Award – and more RIBA awards than any other practice.
- Burges Salmon LLP, a leading law firm advising us on State Aid.
- Trevor Humphries Associates, quantity surveying and project management whose portfolio includes Harvey’s Foundry Trust,Porthcurno Telegraph Museum and King Edward Mine.
- Spalding Associates, specialists in ecological surveys.
- Steven Levrant Heritage Architecture Ltd,specialists in heritage and conservation issues and an expert on Hayle Harbour.
- And many local volunteers with professional skills.

We are already working on our Stage 2 application and feel we are in a very strong position.
We are extremely grateful to our prestigious supporters for their invaluable assistance.

Greg Cording What is the proposed use of the building post refurbishment, one assumes that the goal of the project is aligned to the programs goals of sustainable economic growth and jobs? Jon Ellis wasnt there going to be yet another restaurant up top? would smell lovely up there with all that nice rotten pot bait underneath it eh? Hayle Harbour There will be three 'wet' units on the ground floor to support various fishing and crustacean-related operations. There will be two upper floors with offices for harbour-related businesses. The harbour master will relocate to the north end and will have a panoramic view of the harbour - which he cannot see from the Customs House.
